How Small Businesses Should Track Leads from Ads and Search
Track small business leads from Google Ads and organic search with form events, call clicks, and a simple weekly count of real enquiries.
Analytics
If you cannot tell which advert or page produced a lead, you will keep paying for the loudest channel instead of the useful one. Small businesses can track this without a data team.
Count the actions that start a sale
Record form submissions, clicks on the phone number, and clicks on the quote button. Mark those as conversions in Google Ads using conversion tracking. In GA4, use the same event names so the analytics report and the ad account agree.
Check the lead was real
Once a week, compare the ad platform’s conversions with the enquiries you actually received. Spam forms and mis-clicks should not decide the budget. This is the bridge between Google Ads and SEO. The weekly list is in marketing numbers to check weekly.
Install it once
Set the events on the landing page from web design and leave them alone unless the form changes. If you want that wiring done properly, talk to Ayrahs.
